Sail Door Aircraft Hangar Doors & Ship Yard Doors
The Sail Door has some of the best USPs that other hanger & ship yard doors can not match:
- The opening size can be 1 x door with wind load class 5 at 70x20 mtrs (Larger if required), instead of 3 x Mega Doors.
- No mullions required.
- No super structure required.
- Atex compliant (optional)
- The door can open and close in less than 1 minute, in comparison it takes 9 minutes for doors with mullions to open & close, this is a real issue in windy conditions as the structures need to be protected from within from incoming wind loads. Heat is also lost during the massive amount of time that Mega Doors take to open and close.
- Only 2 x motors instead of multiple motors, to save on fitting and maintenance time. This also includes mullion lifting cables and motors.
- Motors are ground level fitted, meaning that no plant is required to service the motors.
- Power outage is not a problem, release the 2 x brake levers at ground level and the door closes, use 2 x battery drills again at ground level and the door opens, this is a huge advantage. Can you imagine having an A380 stuck inside a building, the costs would be astronomical, but no so with Sail Door
- Low Maintenance required and ease of Maintenance on a huge scale in comparison to Mega doors.
- No parts to bend or break across the curtain as the curtain is not rigged, if a wind load rises above 100 mph a rigid door can become damaged, this is not so with Sail Door. If a door fails in high wind load, then the structure can also receive damage.
- Fitting time is greatly reduced, as no requirement for a Banksman and cranes that would normally be on site for 3 or more weeks with MegaDoor, but not so with Sail Door with 1 x Sail Door at 70 mtrs taking less than 1 week to install, without the need for heavy plant.
- Manufacture time from sign off drawings is 6 weeks, compared to 25 or mainly over 30 weeks plus with the comparison hanger door products.
- Freight costs, 1 x 70x20mtr Sail Door will fit into 1 x container or as a part load, comparison to Mega Door would be vastly different at approximately 5 x the cost. Also freight takes about 1 week on a part load, cutting down on delivery time. Imagine sending 3 x doors to one location, with 3 x Sail Doors would all fit onto the back of 1 x trailer unit.
- Do not underestimate all of the differences that will benefit in so many ways, such as cost in the structure, delivery, 1 door instead of 3, no heavy plant, lower fitting cost, lower delivery costs, reduced down time for opening and closing.
- Twin or single curtain, and keep in mind that Mega Doors have twin curtains, not for insulation but they have to cover the internal cable pulley system and truss structure. Sail Door does not require a twin curtain, but it is optional.
